As the Traffic Systems Technician, you will support the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) by performing routine technical tasks that ensure the smooth operation of traffic management systems and infrastructure. In this role, you will focus on basic system maintenance, user support, hardware checks, documentation, and cybersecurity support. Under the direction of the TMC Technology Specialist, you will also assist with network scans, vulnerability checks, and system maintenance to ensure secure and reliable operations. Primary duties include:

Provide front-line technical support for TMC users, including workstation access, login issues, and general troubleshooting. Install, update, and maintain Windows 10/11 workstations, including essential TMC applications like Cameleon, Genetec, and TransSuite. Configure, update, and troubleshoot communication between end devices (e.g. traffic cameras, signal controllers) and their respective platforms. Log system and field data into internal databases accurately and consistently. Generate reports and performance metrics related to systems or device statuses. Collaborate with field and shop personnel to help assess and resolve technical issues.


Qualifications

A completed 2-year diploma in Electrical Communication, Computer, or closely related discipline. At least 2 years of related experience is required. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, strong customer focus, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with field crews and in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and eventually support basic scripting tasks in PowerShell, Python, or C etc. to automate routine tasks or assist in diagnostics.

Workstyle:

This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $37.77 - 50.50 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
