Summary
We are seeking a skilled Traffic Supervisor to join our team in overseeing traffic operations for the Broadway Subway project. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites, contributing to our commitment to delivering a world-class transit system.
The Traffic supervisor will be responsible for executing the Master Traffic Management Plan and perform all the duties of implementing traffic control plans and managing a team of traffic control persons on site.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of traffic in the project sites and surrounding areas.
Oversee and support on different stages of traffic implementation.
Ensures documentation related to traffic management is in line with Project Agreement.
Ability to implement traffic control plans.
Coordinating with construction teams for any construction activities that require traffic staging plans and traffic control plans.
Available on site when active construction is underway and can be available on site within 60 minutes when active construction is not underway.
Managing a team of traffic control persons on site.
Addressing any site issues and deficiencies.
Responding to inquiries from the Province, Municipalities, transit providers and other stakeholders regarding traffic management questions.
Participating in traffic staging and traffic control implementation on site, either during daytime or nighttime hours.
Liaising with the Province's Representative.
Monitoring queue lengths in active Site and implementing appropriate measures when such queues affect the operation and safety of existing transit services, existing Municipal roads, and other provincial and Municipal roadways.
Monitoring and raising operational performance issues to the Traffic Manager and Traffic Superintendent.
Assisting Traffic Superintendent in scanning all FLRA's and filing paperwork.
Assisting Traffic Superintendent in dispatching traffic control staff for daily work activities.
Recording and providing Daily Traffic Control Reports.
Completing and providing Incident Reports.
Arranging video logs of the traffic sites.
And other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Traffic Supervisor in general Traffic control procedures, standards and processes in the Lower Mainland as well as specific experience in Traffic Management plan implementation on large or similar projects.
Demonstrates independence, accountability on construction projects specifically related to traffic.
Knowledge of BC MoTI Traffic Management Manual for Work on Roadways.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics, and client service orientation.
Strong Organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written & presentation Proven work experience as a Traffic Supervisor or similar role.
Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
Strong management-facing and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with reporting and being compliant with directions.
Self-motivated, innovative, committed, and honest.
Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
