As a Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe movement of all users of the transportation network. Primary duties vary between groups, and may include:
Design, approve, or review designs of traffic control devices, temporary traffic control, ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) projects and/or traffic control operation for construction projects. Ensure designs are in accordance with the City of Calgary Temporary Traffic Control Manual, Transportation Association of Canada Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada, and/ or other applicable safety standards.
Create/ Update Traffic Signal Timings.
Project management of operational projects, including coordination with and management of multiple internal and external parties.
Complete site checks for inspections.
Engage and coordinate contractors and consultant's activities. Review and provide feedback for construction drawings, circulations, and traffic impact assessments.
Investigate and resolve complaints from the public or other partners.
Analyze the transportation network for risks and inefficiencies; identify, analyze, and implement appropriate solutions.
Create or contribute to reports or other written documents such as construction tenders, request for proposal documents, manuals, and technical memoranda.
