You will be responsible for attending average day worksites, storm repairs, accident scenes, and all other conditions that affect traffic (motorists / people).

The ideal candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic around and through worksites affecting workers, motorists and pedestrians. You will be required to act with and maintain professional and respectful behavior, communication (social media // verbal) and complete tasks with the highest level of calmness and level headedness.

You will need to calmly assess situations, work under time, equipment or space restraints and be available for work within 1 hour for unscheduled tasks.

You will need a good understanding (willingness to learn) of traffic management principles and the ability to communicate effectively with the contractors, public and team members.

You will be able to take direction and work independently with the ability to trouble shoot, have the desire and want to increase knowledge and ability, desire to progress and climb the ladder and continuously learn; even if this is not your forever job.

Respect for rules, regulations, policies and procedures with respect for following chain of command is a must. Interest in contributing to the betterment of Traffic Control procedures is a benefit.

Duties



Direct and control traffic flow at work sites, ensuring the safety of workers, pedestrians and motorists. Set up and dismantle traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers. Monitor site conditions and adjust traffic // pedestrian patterns as necessary to maintain safety. Communicate with Contractors regarding ongoing operations and potential hazards. Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel promptly. Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary to facilitate safe traffic management.

Skills



Ability to commute to the Cold Country Traffic Control yard for work day dispatch. Ability to understand and follow all regulations and restrictions governing alcohol and drugs while working. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards at all times. Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing high-stress situations. Strong communication skills to effectively relay information to drivers and team members. Reading, writing fluent English and basic mathematic skills Cell phone app knowledge and ability to learn how to access use an app on personal device. Ability to complete guided tasks on a computer for e-learning Ability to stand for 4 or more hours without a break, in all seasonal conditions.

Valid TCP Certificate (BCCSA or Universal Group) is recommended, however we can certify the right candidates.*

Valid class 5 license is beneficial but not required.*
Experience in site management and delegation is a bonus. Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations related to worksites is a bonus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Pay: $23.00-$31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 60 per week
