Environment and Climate Change is seeking qualified individuals to fill a Trades Helper position located in the North Whiteshell at Nutimik Lake. Nutimik Lake is located approximately 140 km east of Winnipeg, MB.

Conditions of Employment:


• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Must posess and maintain a full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.
• Must be willing to work weekends, shift work and holidays as required.
• Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position including lifting approximately 23 kg in weight, standing for prolonged periods.
• Must be willing and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions


Qualifications:


Essential:


• Experience in the duties of carpentry, building construction and maintenance.
• Experience in cost estimates and ordering material.
• Experience in plumbing installation, repairs and maintenance.
• Experience operating and maintaining construction tools and power equipment.

Desired:
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team and with the public.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge of WSH procedures and practices including certification.
• Supervisory experience.


Duties:


Under the direction of the Park Works Supervisor the incumbant performs semi-skilled work of more than ordinary difficulty using acquired skills: responsible for the construction and maintenance of building infrastructure within the park; performs minor plumbing repairs and routine maintenance to park facilities; assists in placing potable water systems into service at beginning of season and dismantle systems in the fall at various locations; performs miscellaneous duties as required to sewer and water systems as well as other infrastructure; may be responsible for directing other staff, maintains inventory of parts and equipment necessary for the related jobs; and performs other related duties as assigned.
