Overview:

This position is located in Fort Simpson, NT



Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Maintenance Services, is responsible for the day to day routine maintenance of plant engines, and the associated auxiliary equipment of the Fort Simpson generation plant facility as well as assisting Mechanics, Electricians and Powerline Technicians with various duties as required. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of plant grounds and fences at the Fort Simpson generation plant.
Responsibilities:
Always work safely, adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health & Safety and Environmental programs, comply with all rules & regulations, and continually practice health & safety while performing any duties. Assists Plant Superintendents with routine day to day operational duties, also will be required to work in remote plants to do day to day operational duties. This may include after hours on call duties responding to outages and emergency event. This requires staying within cell phone coverage of the community. Assists Mechanics and Electricians with routine maintenance duties of the plant such as oil changes, cooling/heating systems, fuel systems, alarm systems, cranes, welders and other equipment used in the daily operations of the plant. Assists with shipping and receiving of materials as required to the remote communities. Assists with the maintenance of buildings, shops, yards and engines as well as keeping in a clean and orderly condition. Assists with the maintenance of vehicles and keeps in a clean and orderly condition. Assists Power Linepersons in the routine maintenance of substations, transmission and distribution lines. Performs routine meter reads, and acts as grounds person as required. Working conditions may include exposure to certain risks, including working at heights using ladders, scaffolds, climbing poles or on top of steel tanks. Will require driving to or flying to area plants and substations. Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
High School diploma (or equivalent) with at least one year of relevant electrical, mechanical, powerline technician, millwright, power engineering, parts technician or heavy equipment operation experience in an industrial setting. Equivalencies maybe considered. Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) is required. Manual dexterity and knowledge of mechanic, electrical and line tools. Ability to maintain accurate logs and freight documents. Ability to drive/maintain vehicles. Ability to work constructively with others in a team environment. Successful candidate must provide a satisfactory criminal record check prior to commencing work.


Salary for this position ranges from $39.03/hr - $47.46/hr. plus approximately $6,184 in location allowance per annum. Relocation assistance may be provided.

This position is located in Fort Simpson, NT - this is

not

a rotational/fly-in position.
