We specialize in connecting mills, wholesalers, and distributors in the North American lumber market through efficient, relationship-driven trading. We are now seeking a?Trader Trainee who is eager to learn the business of commodity trading and grow into a full-time trader within our team.

Role Description

The Trader Trainee? position is designed for individuals with strong analytical skills, business instincts, and a desire to build a long-term career in commodity trading. Working directly with senior traders and management, you'll learn every aspect of the trading process -- from market analysis and negotiation to logistics, financial management, and risk assessment. This is a performance-driven role where growth, autonomy, and earning potential increase as you develop your skills and demonstrate consistent results.

Key Responsibilities

As a Trader Trainee, you will:

Support senior traders with market research, pricing, and daily trading activities.

Learn to identify market opportunities and negotiate transactions with suppliers and customers.

Assist in managing inventory positions, shipments, and logistics coordination.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, customers and reloads.

Uphold all company standards for compliance, ethics, and confidentiality.

Gradually assume independent trading responsibilities as proficiency increases.

Qualifications

A highly motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Excellent analytical and numerical ability.

Comfort with negotiation, decision-making, and accountability.

A passion for sales, markets, and business development.

Proficiency with Excel, CRM systems, and general business software.

Degree or diploma in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Work Hours & Environment

Standard start time of?6:30 AM, Monday to Friday.
