We are seeking five (5) Track Mechanic Trainees.



Five vacancies: 1. Greenwood - Nights with Thursday/Friday as off days (3 vacancies) 2. Wilson - Nights with Thursday/Friday as off days 3. Davisville - Sunset with Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday as off days


You will be classified as a Track Mechanic Trainee for a period of 18 months during which time the applicable training will be given. Upon successful completion of the classroom and on-the-job training, you will be re-classified as a Track Mechanic (Wage Group 8).

What You Will Do

You will receive training on the maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair work performed on tangent, curved and special track work, track switches and switch components, track bed, and track accessories. The training will also involve the performance of scheduled, running, and emergency repairs to the track work and/or components such as turn-outs, frog castings, rails, slip switches, mechanical and electro-mechanical switching equipment and the track bed/invert. The training will also involve maintenance and troubleshooting on defective or inoperative track lubrication systems/equipment, small tools and snow removal components. You must report and log all track related issues to Supervisory staff.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

A Grade 12 education or its recognized equivalent as determined by the assessment of education credentials by the TTC Operations Training Centre; Must be able to attend and successfully complete all portions of the training to sustain the trainee status; Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating/safety regulations; Must be able to speak clearly in order to exchange information and instructions with the Control Centres; Must be willing and able to wear a respirator; Must have a valid class "G" province of Ontario driver's licence, or better, and be able to pass the written and practical tests required for a class "DZ" driver's licence; Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
