Track Maintainer
Job Description
Great Western Railway Ltd., Saskatchewan's largest short line railway, is recruiting casual/part time track maintainers to be based out of Assiniboia and Moose Jaw, SK. GWR, celebrating our 25th anniversary, was established in 2000 and operates over 400 miles of track in southwestern Saskatchewan where we proudly serve shippers in various industries including agriculture and energy. We seek new team members as we are currently expanding our services to include servicing the track, mechanical, and operating needs of other short line railways and industrial sites throughout Saskatchewan.
Position:
To work within a team environment under the direction of the Track Maintenance Foreman to maintain and repair track.
Will assist in the inspection and maintenance of railway track infrastructure.
Clear ice and snow from track switches and road crossings in the winter.
Operate maintenance equipment or to be trained and qualified to operate equipment, hydraulic hand tools, and machines such rail saws, rail drills and bolters.
Clean and maintain trucks, tools, and equipment in a manner that keeps them in a safe and reliable condition for required railway maintenance jobs.
Essential Qualifications:
Able to work individually or in a crew environment.
. Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner.
Physically fit and capably of lifting items of 50 - 100 lbs.
Valid driver's license.
Employees are required to follow all health and safety standards and policies of the Great Western Railway Ltd.
These positions will be required to do some overnight travel on occasion. Meals and travel expenses will be paid by GWR in these cases
Experience not required but will be an asset.
