Job Description


Tourism Product Development Intern Location: Superior Country Office located in the Red Rock Marina & Interpretive Centre
Red Rock, ON One Year Internship Contract : Guided by the Lake Superior North Shore Tourism Strategy, the Tourism Product Development Intern will work closely with the North Shore Tourism Coordinator to undertake the following tasks:

  • Assist in the implementation of tourism product development plans and strategies, including but not limited to:
North Shore Cruise Market Readiness Plan, 2SLGBTQ+ Tourism Strategy and Plan, North Shore Culinary TourismProduct Development Strategy, Group of Seven and Indigenous Group of Seven Tourism Product Strategy.
  • Assist in the facilitation of the Superior Picnics program.
  • Provide support to communities and organizations in the development of project proposals and funding applications as required.
  • Facilitate the completion of Tourism Excellence North programs by communities and operators.
  • Undertake community outreach activities to promote the importance of tourism to community members.
  • Scheduling regular and project meetings, and devising agendas and minutes
  • Developing reports and claims for funding partners.
  • Other tasks as required in relation to Tourism Product Development.
Qualifications:
  • It is preferred that the applicant has obtained a degree or diploma in Tourism, Business, Economic/Community
Development, or Outdoor Recreation.
  • Should have excellent working knowledge of the internet and Microsoft Windows.
  • Must not have previously participated in an internship program.
  • Must be first time employment in the tourism field.
  • Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Nipigon-Red Rock area.
