Job Description

The Total Rewards Specialist I supports the delivery and continuous improvement of Seaspan's Total Rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, pension, wellness, and recognition. Working closely with the Total Rewards Manager, this role assists with the administration, analysis, and coordination of total rewards programs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company objectives.





This position is ideal for an early-career HR professional who has foundational knowledge in compensation and benefits and is eager to develop analytical and program administration skills in a fast-paced environment.





Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.



What You'll Do



Compensation Support

+ Assist with the annual compensation and mid-year Progression & Promotion planning cycle, including data validation, report preparation, and audit tracking.
+ Support the maintenance of salary structures, NOC codes, pay ranges, and job evaluation documentation.
+ Conduct market survey submissions and perform data collection and analysis to support competitive pay positioning.
+ Prepare summary reports and charts to support total rewards presentations and decisions.

Total Rewards Program Coordination

+ Supports the execution of Seaspan's total rewards programs (ie. benefits, pension, wellness & recognition)
+ Vendor management support
+ Assist in preparing communications and materials for benefits renewals, wellness programs, and recognition initiatives.
+ Support employee and HR inquiries escalated by the HR Services team, ensuring timely resolution and escalating complex issues to management as needed.

Data & Systems Management

+ Maintain and reconcile Total Rewards data in HR systems such as Oracle HCM, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
+ Run standard and ad hoc reports to support internal analysis, leadership updates, and compliance requirements.
+ Support HR analytics and dashboard development for compensation and benefits tracking.

Compliance & Reporting

+ Assist in preparing documentation and data for pay equity and pay transparency reporting, as well as other regulatory or audit requirements.
+ Help ensure internal processes comply with company policies and applicable legislation.

Projects & Process Improvements

+ Participate in cross-functional projects such as market reviews, process automation, or total rewards communication initiatives.
Contribute ideas for improving program administration, reporting efficiency, and employee understanding of Total Rewards offerings.

What You'll Bring



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.

0-2 years of experience in compensation, benefits, HR analytics, or a related HR function.
Strong numerical and analytical ability with high attention to detail. Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and comfort working with large data sets. Familiarity with HRIS or reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Workday) is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and learning attitude. Basic understanding of compensation and benefits concepts, such as salary structures, market benchmarking, and benefits plan design. Awareness of HR legislation related to pay equity, pay transparency, and employment standards is an asset.

Working toward or interested in pursuing CCP, CEBS, or CHRP designation is an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800 - $90,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience, as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
