In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, implementation, and administration of the total rewards programs at Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, including benefits, wellness, recognition, job evaluation and compensation. Your work will ensure that our offerings remain competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with the universityxe2x80x99s goals and values. You will collaborate closely with university leadership, the People team, and external vendors to develop and manage comprehensive programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.This is a hybrid role, working two days a week in our downtown Toronto office.Who you areYou are passionate about benefits and total rewards and eager to make a meaningful impact.   • Act as a subject matter expert. You will oversee the design, management and administration of employee benefits programs, including group insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. You will collaborate with benefit providers and support with contract negotiations. You will also oversee leave and disability management programs, including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and maternity and parental leave. You will ensure the programs provide a good employee experience and meet compliance standards.
  • Champion communications. You will educate employees about their benefits options by developing and distributing communication materials. You will provide guidance and support to employees on all total rewards-related matters, including managing the Benefits inbox, and will work closely with the People Business Partnering team to resolve any benefits or compensation issues that arise. You will also develop and maintain policies and procedures related to total rewards.
  • Develop wellness and recognition. You will design and implement wellness programs that promote physical, mental, and financial well-being. You will also develop and manage employee recognition programs that celebrate achievements and foster a culture of appreciation.
  • Oversee compensation. You will manage and administer the compensation lifecycle, including salary structures, job evaluations and annual merit reviews. You will conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure our compensation practices are aligned with industry standards. You will ensure compliance with compensation laws and regulations.
  • Budget management. You will use data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of total rewards programs, providing reports on participation rates, costs, and employee satisfaction. You will manage the budget for total rewards, ensuring programs are cost-effective and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead strategic initiatives. In collaboration with the Chief People Officer, you will assist in developing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that aligns with the organizational mission, goals and values.
You have:
  • The experience. Whether you're transitioning from a consulting firm to an in-house role or coming from a small to medium sized organization, you bring comprehensive expertise in benefits. Ideally, you have experience in wellness, recognition, job evaluation and compensation.
  • The project coordination. You have contributed to strategic projects and process planning and played a crucial role in delivering cross-functional projects from end to end. You have excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient in MS Office and can pick up new systems and technologies easily. Ideally, you are familiar with job evaluation methodologies and salary benchmarking.
  • The initiative. You are passionate about learning and growth and championing people and culture. You thrive in a collaborative environment while working independently and taking ownership of your deliverables. You are a creative problem solver who can anticipate issues and pivot focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional communication skills and excel at creating internal messaging, reports and other documentation. You prioritize being responsive and open to the needs and questions of peers and employees seeking information. You have the confidence to work across teams and with managers and leaders. You respect and appreciate diverse experiences and opinions. You are comfortable using a range of communication tools.
