The Get REAL Movement is a Canadian non-profit focused on combatting 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination, racism, and bullying in schools, summer camps, and workplaces. We accomplish this by offering a variety of different educational Workshop modules, and by providing leadership development and marginalized youth support through our University Chapters, our High School After-School Program, our 2SLGBTQ+ Virtual Counselling Program, and our Summits. Our programming aims to break down prejudice, promote unity, and foster compassion in our world.

We are looking for engaging speakers to join our 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusion speaking team. You will be working alongside a "Team Lead" speaker to deliver one hour workshops to students in schools across the Greater Toronto area. Our workshops draw on a mixture of personal experience, participant engagement and factual evidence to educate students 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion and how to be an ally.

Please note: This job does require speakers to share their personal experiences in a story-telling format, which can be emotionally taxing. You have the support of your fellow speakers and managers, but please gauge your emotional readiness before applying.

Responsibilities:

Co-facilitate - as Team Lead - workshops in schools across Canada on 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion Memorize lines from a script and present them in an engaging manner Show up on time to workshops looking professional and prepared to present Speak authentically to your own experiences as a 2SLGBTQ+ person to educate and connect with participants Answer student questions during the workshop and potentially navigate difficult and/or personal conversations Coordinate via email with teachers professionally and promptly Mentor Speaker 2's (newer, less experienced Speakers)
Qualifications:

Lived experience navigating heterosexism/cissexism, with priority to applicants with lived experience within the trans, gender-diverse, and nonbinary community Basic understanding of intersectionality, privilege and oppression and 2SLGBTQ+ knowledge Flexible schedule with the ability to work during school hours, 9-4pm Possibility of early morning and evening hours Minimum 2 years of experience public speaking Comfortable in front of groups of people G Level Drivers License is an asset but not required While there may be virtual opportunities, must have in-person availability
