Under the responsibility of the Director of Operations, the Tooling and Equipment Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and optimization of the tools and equipment necessary for the various surface treatments, in order to ensure efficient production that complies with requirements and certifications. He will work closely with the production and industrialization departments to identify specific needs, propose innovative solutions and supervise the implementation of new tooling at the production site.
Key Responsibilities and Expected Results
Prepare engineering specifications for tools used to handle parts of certain volumes;
Review and prepare specifications for the production of parts with processes such as shot blasting, thermal spraying (HVOF) and plating;
Design certain tools;
Conduct business cases to justify selected technical proposals;
Coordinate various suppliers to monitor ongoing projects or evaluate their service offerings;
Follow up with subcontractors to install certain machines as well as design and manufacture tools;
Participate in the development and implementation of new technologies and equipment;
Write operating procedures for new processes;
Offer technical support to production and customers;
Participate in team discussions before the production of new parts and processes;
Collect and organize R&D-related documentation;
Work on the continuous improvement of procedures;
Perform all other related tasks when required;
Qualifications
Academic
University degree in mechanical engineering.
Experiment
3 to 5 years of relevant experience
(Experience in the field of special processes and/or aeronautics a major asset).
Skills in demand
Fluency in French (oral and written);
Technical English (reading and writing) and oral functioning;
Reading and interpreting 2D drawings, 3D models and aerospace manufacturing specifications;
Proficiency in SolidWorks and CATIA software;
Analytical mind and sense of initiative;
Priority management and problem-solving capacity;
Good communicator;
Ability to function independently in a hectic environment;
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Knowledge of NADCAP accreditations and/or Aeronautical Specification will be considered an asset;
Experience with ERP/MRP (INFOR) systems will be considered an asset;
Experience with MES systems will be considered an asset;
Experience with aerospace quality standards and systems will be considered an asset;
