Tool Room Mold Technician Student Shift A

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:



Reporting to the Tool Room Manager, the Mold Technician Coop is responsible for performing

product changes, attending to mold issues during production, preparing molds for upcoming

mold changes, performing work as defined by the Mold PM Program and preparing molds for

storage after removal from machine. The Mold Technician will also be required to work in the

tool room when required.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:



Assist with installing and removing mold during product change

o Pre-Stage all equipment and necessary tools for mold installation and removal

o Obtain necessary supplies from stores

Assist with preparing for storage and installation

o Store the mold in the proper location

o Inspect, clean, polish the mold prior to installation and storage

Assist with repairing and improving molds during production

o Block and unblock cavities when the need arises

o Perform insert change or repairs, clean cores and gate inserts, fix leaking inserts

Assist with performing routine preventative maintenance

o Replace mold inserts, nozzle tips,

o Check lubrication points

o Setting and checking mold alignment

Assist with completing documentation

o product change form

o Report out daily activities and update Tool Room labour board file.

o Mold Inspection checklist sheet

Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance, including proactively identify and

suggesting ways to eliminate hazards and participating in safety investigation when

required

Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing

various duties

Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures - training is provided

Note:

Work is performed in a production environment with high levels of noise. Heavy lifting and prolonged standing are required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position



SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Qualifications:



Student in related post-secondary program (Injection Molding)

Experience in a molding facility is an asset

Good English communication skills

Mechanical aptitude/strong troubleshooting skills preferred
