De Beers Group has an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated individual to join the Mobile Maintenance department at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the position is responsible for the coordination of tool cribs in three maintenance shops as well as maintaining the Fall Arrest registry. This position will receive, store, set up kits and issue hand tools, consumable PPE and shop equipment. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contributing to job risk assessments and safe work plans ahead of the work being completed;
  • Documenting the movement of tools, goods and services in tool inventory software;
  • Managing lists of tools (tracking, physical locations, indexing, issuing, returns, work order tracking, labelling, bar coding, restocking, lost or misplaced tools, repair/calibration and reporting) using a computerized system;
  • Assembling kits of tools and equipment for specific jobs according to instructions;
  • Cleaning, lubricating completing minor repairs on the tools as required;
  • Preparing periodic inventory of tools and equipment;
  • Receiving, unpacking, and storing incoming tools and equipment;
  • Marking and identifying tools with bar codes and entering in tool inventory software;
  • Operating forklift or other equipment as required;
  • Inspecting tools and equipment for defects, damage, wear or tear and reporting to supervisor;
  • Maintaining order and cleanliness of the tool crib at all times and according to safe work practice and procedures;
  • Making recommendations for improvement; and
  • Providing reports from tool inventory system as required.
This is a site-based position with a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.

Qualifications
  • Individuals who identify as Indigenous, Metis, Inuit or other First Nation are encouraged to apply;
  • Residence in the NWT or Nunavut is preferred;
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada;
  • Experience in maintenance tool cribs in a mining environment (1-3 years);
  • Experience in using a computerized planned maintenance system (Tool Hound and SAP);
  • Ability to effectively serve multiple internal customer simultaneously;
  • Ability to take ownership of an area and keep attention on details;
  • Knowledge of tools and small repairs;
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced;
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and
  • Ability to work in a safety-oriented, fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
Desirable Assets:
  • Background in mobile heavy equipment; and
  • Ability to operator machinery like a fork lift.
