BNAOM General Partnership (BNAOM), a partnership of ACS Infrastructure Canada, Fluor Canada, and Aecon Group Inc., is seeking candidates for the Operations and Maintenance of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
Bridging North America (BNA) was selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the CAD $6.4 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge project for Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) - a Public-Private-Partnership (P3). BNAOM is the OMR entity managing the Operations, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation of the Project for a term of 30 years.
When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario.
The Canadian Port of Entry is an approximate 53 hectare or 130-acre site and will be the largest Canadian port along the Canada-US border, and one of the largest anywhere in North America. It includes inbound border inspection facilities for both passenger and commercial vehicles, outbound inspection facilities, toll collection facilities, a maintenance facility and parking.
The US Port of Entry has an approximate 68 hectare or 167-acre site and will be one of the largest US ports along the Canada-US border and in North America. It includes US inbound border inspection facilities for both passenger and commercial vehicles, US outbound inspection facilities, commercial exit control booths and parking.
Job Summary
The Bilingual Toll Supervisor (French & English)will report to the Toll Plaza Manager, or other such person as may be designated by the CEO and is responsible for supervising the collection of the tolls, managing cash floats, ensuring smooth traffic flow, performing cash and transaction audits, verifying and organizing cash deposit, helping customers at the toll plaza, and upholding safety and facility security.
Roles & Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of multiple toll collection booths
Comply with all toll collection and operation policies, procedures, and guidelines as outlined in applicable documents or manuals
Train new toll collectors and conduct ongoing training sessions
Monitor employee performance and attendance
Issue change funds and verify end of shift deposits
Monitor traffic patterns, manage lane assignments for efficient flow and adjust toll booth operations to optimize efficiency
Respond to unexpected traffic events
Provide the required reports to the Toll Plaza Manager
Assign Toll Collectors to lanes and coordinate breaks
Ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures are followed
Perform Toll Collector duties when necessary to open a cash lane
Lead and motivate toll collection staff to meet performance goals
Address customer enquiries professionally and resolve issues promptly
Develop and implement improvements to toll collection operations, including process enhancements and technology upgrades
Maintain accurate records of toll collection activities, including revenue and expenses
Ensure toll collection equipment is functioning properly and notify maintenance team as needed
Enforce safety protocols, maintain security, and initiate emergency responses for various incidents such as leaks, spills, or other hazards
Stay informed about local events in Canada and the United States to plan staffing with the Toll Plaza Manager and communicate updates to the Toll Collectors
Monitor road and highway conditions, and relay relevant updates, such as weather advisories, accidents, and closures to the Toll Collectors, Toll Plaza Manager and customers
Refer to unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation
Related Tasks: Perform any other related tasks necessary for the smooth functioning of our team
Participate, collaborate, and contribute to BNAOM development and implementation of company, human resource, finance, technical, IT, tolling, contractual, operations, and maintenance policies, plans, and procedures
Participate & play an active role in the continuation of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed
Adhere to and support BNA's Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental, Security, and Sustainability Policies
Ensure the implementation of the Safety Program to all staff to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and ensure that they adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements
Document and report all injuries and any incidents
Document damage or changes in condition of project assets. Prepare claim requests in the event of accidents caused by third parties
Perform additional assignments as directed by the CEO, Toll & System Manager and Toll Plaza Manager or as required for successful mobilization, operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation
Qualifications & Requirements
Education and Language Skills
High School Diploma or GED; bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is an asset for this position (equivalent work experience may be considered)
Advanced proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written mandatory
Experience & Knowledge
Proven experience in supervision, including planning, assigning, and monitoring work.
Strong background in customer service, with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and complaints
Experience in cash accounting, including recording transactions, preparing bank deposits, and reconciling accounts
Familiarity with interpreting laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Excel and virtual documentation
Knowledge of security systems and access control equipment is an asset for this position
Knowledge of traffic safety, national roadways, and local attractions
Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership abilities, including motivation and mentoring
Critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills
Comfortable handling cash and operating cash registers
Basic math skills for accurate toll fee calculations
Ability to monitor safety concerns and take corrective action when necessary
Work Conditions
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able and physically capable to stand or sit for long periods and work in various adverse weather conditions
