Position Summary
The Title Searcher is responsible for the conducting title searches on properties, preparing them for the registration of a Tax Arrears Certificate. They will execute the required procedures and ensure that all the requirements of the pertinent legislation and regulations are adhered to. They will interact by email and by telephone with our clients when required and ensure that they are always provided with an outstanding level of service. They will work both individually, and as part of a close-knit team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Title Searcher include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ordering property parcel from Teraview;
Performing title search;
Performing execution searches
Identifying interested parties;
Contacting LRO if necessary
Compiling and entering data into custom software;
Using our custom software to create the required letters and/or documents;
Assembling files (virtual or otherwise)
Becoming thoroughly familiar with the procedures and requirements set out in Part XI of the Municipal Act;
Working with the Realtax team;
Occasionally assisting other departments;
Being familiar and knowledgeable of our procedures and software, including:
o our customized software;
o our fee structures and invoicing;
Dealing with clients and advising them on the requirements of tax registrations;
Identifying properties eligible for Direct Transfer process
Other
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines;
Understanding of the Ontario Land Registry system (Registry and Land Titles);
