Position Overview



We are seeking a

Tissue Engineer / Scientist

to join our Tissue Engineering team at our facility in Victoria, BC. This is an

in-person role

and a key position in validating and commercializing VoxCell's advanced tissue models as tools for preclinical drug testing.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in

3D bioprinting, mammalian cell culture, tissue engineering, and assay development

, with a proven ability to design and execute complex experiments. You will play a

central role

in

technology advancement, process optimization, and mentoring junior scientists

while working closely with cross-functional teams and industry collaborators.

Key Duties & Responsibilities



3D Bioprinting



Operate VoxCell's proprietary 3D bioprinting platform to fabricate complex vascularized tissue models. Lead efforts in process optimization, troubleshooting, and advancing bioprinting capabilities.

Bioink Optimization



Support bioink formulation, tuning, and characterization to improve print fidelity, tissue viability, and vascular integration.

Cell Culture & Tissue Development



Oversee mammalian tissue culture operations, including maintenance, expansion, and cryopreservation. Design and execute tissue development strategies aligned with VoxCell's R&D roadmap.

Experimental Design & Data Analysis



Develop, optimize, and interpret experimental protocols addressing key scientific questions. Apply statistical rigor to analyze data and provide actionable insights.

Documentation & Reporting



Maintain comprehensive experimental records and ensure SOPs are up to date. Prepare technical reports and present findings at internal and external meetings.

Mentorship & Training



Lead onboarding, technical training, and development of new team members. Foster a culture of technical excellence and adherence to best practices.

External Collaborations



Support joint studies with pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO partners. Serve as a scientific representative for specific project areas.

Laboratory & Compliance Oversight



Maintain high standards of laboratory organization, safety, and operational excellence.

Qualifications



Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Cancer Immunology, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred). 3+ years industry experience in bioprinting, tissue engineering, cell culture, or cellular assays. Proficiency in 3D bioprinting and advanced mammalian tissue culture. Experience with fluorescence imaging, plate-reader assays, and flow cytometry (co-culture/immunological assays are an asset). Strong data analysis skills with a quantitative, problem-solving mindset. Excellent communication skills for working across multidisciplinary teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, research-driven startup environment.

Preferred Experience



Hands-on experience with bioink formulation, characterization, and tuning. Familiarity with

vascularized tissue engineering strategies and matrix optimization.

Knowledge of drug testing assays, perfusion systems, and microphysiological models.
