As the Tissue Culture Technician, you will support the tissue culture program by preparing media, transplant plantlets, monitoring tissue cultures, transfer to other vessels, and other duties as assigned. You will be working with the tissue culture and R&D team together, ensuring that tissue culture plants are in optimal health and inventoried correctly in the ERP system. You will participate in R&D meetings, and are expected to deliver progress reports in a professional manner. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
This position is based out of Stayner, Ontario.
What you'll be doing:Prepares and sterilizes tissue culture media
Transplants plantlets into other media
Troubleshooting tissue culture problems
Keeps data and records on tissue cultures in compliance with regulations
Cleans tissue culture vessels and equipment
Actively participates in research and tissue culture discussions and meetings
Writing and reporting of technical results and information
Track and evaluate effectiveness of treatments and determine next steps
Presenting findings, scientific insights and recommendations to peers
Other duties as required to support the organization.
You'll need to have:Graduates from a B.Sc. program in Horticulture, Microbiology, Plant Agriculture, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology or strong lab related work experience will be considered
Experience in tissue culture, plant and/or horticultural science, involvement in R&D projects is an asset.
Ability to execute fine motoric movements while working in a sterile lab environment
Possess strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to drive decision-making and effectively work with internal stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
