Job Summary


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing a variety of tile surfaces across residential, commercial, and renovation projects. Your expertise will help create beautiful, durable surfaces that meet precise specifications and client expectations. Duties



Measure, cut, and install ceramic, porcelain, stone, and other tile materials with precision and care. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives or mortar to ensure proper adhesion. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute detailed tile layouts. Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for cutting, shaping, and installing tiles. Perform surface preparation tasks such as concrete finishing, plastering, or masonry work as needed before tile installation. Apply caulking, grout, sealants, and finishing touches to ensure a clean and professional appearance. Collaborate with project managers, construction management teams, and other trades such as plumbing or electrical crews to coordinate work seamlessly.

Requirements



Proven experience in tile laying or related construction roles with a strong understanding of blueprint reading and schematic interpretation. Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., trowels, chisels) and power tools (e.g., saws, drills) safely on construction sites. Knowledge of construction management practices including estimating costs and managing project timelines. Familiarity with construction inspection standards to ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle. Experience working with heavy equipment operation or specialized fabrication tools is a plus. Ability to perform detailed surface preparation tasks such as concrete forming or restoration work when necessary. Strong understanding of building codes related to flooring installation, masonry, stucco, roofing, or fixture installation is advantageous. Tools: Must have your own tools (company provides specialty equipment)

Safety: Strong understanding of WorksafeBC regulations, ability to work safely alone and in teams

Physical Fitness: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand/kneel for extended periods

Reliability: Punctual, professional, and committed to quality workmanship

Communication: Basic English proficiency (verbal/written)

Preferred (Bonus Skills):



Experience in bathroom renovation (tiling, waterproofing, fixtures) Knowledge of carpentry (baseboards, trim, underlayment installation) Drywall installation/finishing experience Flooring Experience Leadership experience - ability to mentor junior team members

What We Offer



Competitive Pay: $28-$38/hour based on experience and skill level

Performance Bonuses: For projects completed ahead of schedule/under budget

Flexible Hours: 20-40 hours per week with potential for overtime
