In acknowledgement of Mennonite Central Committee's (MCC) vision and mission statement, the Thrift Shop Manager, under the direction of the local Thrift Shop Board, plans, directs and controls the day-to-day operation of the Niverville Thrift Shop, which includes the supervision of staff and volunteers.

Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills, willing and able to work with a variety of people; friendly, outgoing and appreciative of volunteers, donors and customers.
Strong organizational skills, able to make quick decisions and maintain an organized, tidy and safe work environment and manage workload by prioritizing tasks.
Post-secondary business management or commensurate experience is an asset.
Experience with POS systems preferred.
Current First Aid Training Certification or willing and able to obtain within first 3 months of employment. Training must remain current during the term of employment.
Current eligibility and status to legally work in Canada.
Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License.
Satisfactory criminal record clearance and Child Abuse/Elder Abuse Check.
Key Responsibilities
Staff/Volunteer Management:Supervise, assist, motivate and support day managers, staff and volunteers, providing training and on-going development as needed.
Provide oversight to the volunteers with the vision of increasing volunteerism and developing a positive culture.
Assist in resolving any conflicts arising with customers or volunteers in a manner that reflects respect, careful listening and peaceful resolution
A key aspect of this role is the ability to relate well to others, including customers, donors and especially the volunteer/staff team. This position requires living out your faith by serving others and advancing the mission of MCC as one relates to volunteers, customers, staff and donors.
Ability to accept/adapt to the culture of existing and future volunteers.
Create job descriptions, with board input, as needed and conduct annual performance reviews for day managers and staff.
Responsible for seasonal application and recruitment for Green Team positions.
Public relations - regular, ongoing positive interactions with volunteers, customers and donors
Operations: Responsible for shop opening and closing
Count, record and deposit cash sales
Oversee retail operations of the shop, ensuring that the shop is neat, clean and attractive
Ensure workplace safety measures are in place
Troubleshoot issues with the till and scheduling as needed
Administrative/Financial:Develop operational policies as needed
Work with the Board Treasurer as requested to develop budget, reporting financials etc.
Attend monthly Board meetings, provide monthly reports to the Board, and communicate Board decisions to staff and volunteers, where applicable.
Represent the shop to groups and organizations in the community and region.
Attend MCC-sponsored workshops, MCC annual meetings, and other activities as required.
Work closely with MCC Manitoba Thrift Coordinator
Perform other duties as required
