Job Synopsis


The Thrift Marketing & Communications Manager provides leadership and hands-on implementation to translate MCC Ontario's Thrift vision into action. This role oversees marketing and communication initiatives that drive sales, enhance community engagement, and strengthen awareness of MCC's relief, development, and peace work. Supervising a small creative team--including Graphic Designers, a Digital Media Associate, and a Marketing & Communications Associate, the Manager ensures all marketing campaigns are coordinated, timely, and audience-focused. Working closely with Thrift leadership, this role plans, executes, and evaluates marketing efforts for all MCC Ontario Thrift Shops and supports communication strategies that engage volunteers and inform consumers about MCC's local and global impact.



This is a hybrid role with two days required in the Kitchener, Ontario office, plus regular travel to MCC Thrift Shops throughout southern Ontario.



MCC is a charitable organization that partners with churches and community organizations worldwide to walk with people who are disadvantaged. MCC supports activities that provide emergency assistance, reduce poverty, and promote healthy communities, sustainable living and alternatives to violence. As an internationally recognized NGO, MCC currently serves in more than 45 countries with over 475 partners, 1,000 staff and 40,000 volunteers.

Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and provide creative direction to a marketing team Experience managing digital platforms (social media, web, email marketing, Google Analytics) Strong understanding of branding, target audience engagement, and campaign execution Excellent organizational, project management, and internal communication skills Bachelor's Degree plus 2-4 years of professional marketing experience, including campaign planning and team supervision A valid Ontario driver's license to allow for visits to all 6 Ontario MCC Thrift Shops

Preferred


o Experience in a retail, non-profit, or social enterprise setting

Experience managing paid social and search advertising (Meta, Google) Familiarity with traditional advertising (print, radio) and influencer partnerships Familiarity with MCC's mission, values, and organizational priorities

Campaign Development & Execution


o Lead the creation and implementation of integrated marketing calendars (organic and paid social media, email, print, and radio advertising, and in-shop promotion)

Supervise the development of an organic social media content calendar Maintain and update MCC Ontario Thrift and MCC Picks Up website content Coordinate content for thrift consumer newsletters that highlight shop promotions and MCC Ontario's impact stories Develop and execute aligned digital and traditional marketing campaigns across all MCC Ontario Thrift Shops
Team Leadership & Supervision


o Supervise the Graphic Designers, Digital Media Associate, and Marketing & Communications Associate

Mentor team members and foster a collaborative, creative work environment Coordinate workflow and ensure campaign deliverables meet brand and timeline requirements
Performance, Reporting & Analytics


o Track, analyze, and report on performance across digital and traditional channels (social media, advertising, email, website)

Develop KPIs and evaluate ROI in collaboration with the Thrift Director and Thrift Growth & Performance Manager Use analytics to recommend ongoing improvements in campaign strategy and execution
Collaboration with Thrift and Volunteer Engagement Managers


o Work closely with Thrift Shop General Managers and Assistant Managers to provide marketing and communications support for sales and community engagement

Partner with Volunteer Engagement Managers to develop marketing materials and messaging that support volunteer recruitment and retention
Other Responsibilities


Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day Participate in a local faith community, using personal gifts within this community Model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful daily interactions Serve as a brand ambassador for MCC's mission and values in all public and internal interactions

Salary Details


Base salary: $69,649. This role starts on day 1 with a company paid benefit package

LTD premiums are the responsibility of all permanent, salaried positions. These are the responsibility of the team member and are paid through salary deduction.

Location Description


This hybrid role will work a minimum of 2 days weekly out of the MCC Ontario office at 50 Kent Ave, Kitchener Ontario
