Your Opportunity:Join our dynamic Rehab team and expand your skills working closely with our Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work well both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team under flexible demands. They will have the ability to manage multiple tasks and/or patients. The successful candidate will work under the supervision and direction of the Physical and Occupational therapist and will be responsible for performing patient treatments in the inpatient acute care units and outpatient orthopedic splinting clinic. These treatments will include exercise programs, lifting/transferring of patients, carrying out established treatment interventions, assisting with ADLs, leading group exercise classes, assisting with upper extremity splinting and/or hand therapy program exercises, maintaining inventory of supplies, booking patient appointments, and the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate good communication skills and will prioritize and organize the daily work schedule to manage patient caseload responsibilities. The successful candidate will use client centered practices to implement the occupation plan and engage clients, families, caregivers, and the health team to enable occupational possibilities. This position requires the ability to bend, twist, assist with multiple patient transfers throughout your shift, including with bariatric patients. You will also be required to walk between units and up/down the stairs many times throughout the day.Description:As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 1 year experience working as a PTA or OTA in acute care. New Grad Experience may be considered. Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Basic computer skills required. Ability to prioritize and organize workload with minimal direct supervision and incorporate creative problem solving is required. Effective written, verbal, communication, and computer skills are required. Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care training and experience is an asset. Minimum of 3 months experience with preparation of splinting materials, assisting with fabrication of splints for the upper extremity. Independence with carrying out upper or lower extremity therapy programs assigned by the OT or PT preferred.
