Your Opportunity:South Health Campus (SHC) services Calgary and the surrounding rural areas and was designed as a referral centre for Southern Alberta. These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The Allied Health department at South Health Campus provides services to in-patient units and out-patient service areas. Under general supervision from the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, this Therapy Assistant position is primarily responsible to providing direct and non-direct patient care. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an inter-professional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists within our In-patient team. The caseload for this position may include acute care medical, neuro and surgical areas. This position will also provide Weekends coverage on a rotational basis. This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and/or equipment. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.Description:As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered. Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working as a Therapy Assistant in an urban adult acute care environment within the last 2 years.
