Dan's Legacy is currently seeking a full-time experienced Therapist to work with youth at risk, ages 15 to 25, in Metro Vancouver. Our growing team of therapists work in dynamic partnerships and inter-disciplinary teams to provide long-term trauma-informed and culturally safe counselling for marginalized youth, many of whom are in care or have aged out of care, have experienced trauma, and may be experiencing substance use and/or precarious housing and employment. This role will involve flexible modalities of service delivery (in-office, remote/virtual, in community partner sites).

Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide long-term, trauma-informed counselling to youth clients aged 15-25, addressing challenges including, but not limited to, substance use, trauma, interpersonal relationships, emotional disturbances, and self-exploration.
Assess counselling referrals and develop individualized treatment plans based on client goals and psychosocial assessments, adjusting plans as needed to reflect progress or evolving needs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling sessions by collecting client feedback and tracking progress toward defined objectives and resolution of identified issues.
Administer Level A and Level B psychological assessments, such as the Beck Anxiety Inventory, to support client evaluations.
Follow up on counselling outcomes and client adjustments by collaborating with internal teams, including outreach workers and social workers.
Engage youth in flexible and creative ways, including remote/virtual counselling, in-community sessions, and sessions at approved community partner sites.
Build and maintain relationships with community agencies and partners throughout the Lower Mainland. Access to a reliable vehicle is an asset, as many locations are transit accessible.
Proactively refer clients to appropriate services and resources, such as peer-support groups, low-cost group therapy, or couples therapy, as needed.
Demonstrate mature clinical judgment and strong critical thinking skills in independent work.
Conduct risk assessments to identify immediate safety concerns (e.g., self-harm, suicidality), implementing crisis intervention and safety planning as required, including mandatory reporting to the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or police.
Participate in regular consultation, clinical development activities, and clinical supervision to ensure the provision of high-quality care and to stay current with best practices and ethical standards.
Manage cases effectively, including scheduling, discharging clients, and making internal/external referrals, in accordance with ethical and professional standards to support interdisciplinary collaboration and consistent client care.
Meet reasonable and flexible productivity expectations aligned with program needs and goals.
Accurately document session notes and attendance related to daily clinical activities, ensuring compliance with the organization's data system (ShareVision) and its reporting requirements.
Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries in all client interactions, adhering to CCPA and BCACC ethical guidelines, except in cases requiring mandatory reporting (e.g., risk of harm to self or others).
Collaborate with government organizations, such as the Ministry of Children and Family Development, to ensure client health and safety, as needed.
Provide witness testimony in court proceedings when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Tri-modality: In-office (New Westminster), remote/virtual therapy, community/outreach (partner sites across Metro Vancouver)
Travel to sites, including partner organizations accessible by transit or requiring vehicle access.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master's degree in psychology, Counselling, or Social Work (required)
Current registration in good standing with professional body, such as BCACC, CCPA, or BCCSW
A minimum of 1 year of direct clinical service with youth at risk (ages 15-25) including experience working with marginalized youth (in-care or aged-out, trauma exposure, precarious housing/employment, substance use)
At least 1 year of family counselling experience (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to leverage community support and partner services in client work
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), SharePoint and comfortable using web-based and smartphone-based case-management/administrative applications
Ability and willingness to travel (across Metro Vancouver / Lower Mainland) to partner sites, outreach locations and community settings

About Dan's Legacy:
Dan's Legacy provides trauma-informed and culturally sensitive counselling, outreach and job-skills training to youth at risk in Metro Vancouver. These young people, aged 15 to 25, are at significant risk of overdose, self-harm, homelessness, and suicide. Dan's Legacy's therapy and outreach teams go directly to the youth, our wait list times are minimal, and all our programs and services are free. In 2024, Dan's Legacy helped over 800 youth stabilize their mental health, and begin working towards their educational, employment and recovery goals.
