Therapeutic Family Lead



The Therapeutic Family Supervisor (TFS) is responsible for case management, coordination, supervising, developing, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of services to young people and their families. The TFS provides leadership and case management support to the therapeutic team that will serve to optimize the relationship between the young person and their family. The TFS is also responsible for the provision of support in the therapeutic home and community support within the scope of the organizational resources. The TFS also provides consultant services to staff and assists in the coordination of services to families of the youth we serve.

Hours

: This position is a Monday-Friday position. You will create your schedule based on the family's needs and with your colleagues and Program Director. There is also an on-call component that will be discussed in greater detail during the orientation.

The specific TFS responsibilities include the following:

A. Oak Hill Foundation Philosophy, Policy, Procedure and Organizational Skills.



1. Consistently utilize Oak Hill Foundation policy and procedural manual to guide decision-making and action.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of organization service philosophy and service framework in decision-making.

3. Can describe organizational structure, positions, roles and decision-making process.

4. Understand the job description and performance expectations. Take initiative in promoting organization, program, and professional development.

5. Establish and maintain relationships with organizational staff based on respect, genuineness, commitment, and integrity.

6. Demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in the use of work time and performance expectations.

7. Work as a member of the program team and provide input to the organization's leadership team. Present information and ideas on major issues and case consultations. Opinions are presented in an objective and articulate manner. Listen and respect the opinions of others and integrate input in a respectful manner as well as follow through with team decisions.

8. Perform responsibilities in an ethical manner, maintaining respectful conduct.

B. Case Management



a. Establish and maintain a helping relationship based on foundation helping skills of respect, genuineness, warmth, and empathy.

b. Active listening and communication skills of paraphrasing, reflecting, clarifying, and summarizing are consistently practiced with all the young people in the program.

c. Contact with families regarding daily activities, appointments, incidents, and events.

d. Ensure daily documentation is completed.

e. Act in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.

f. Collaborate with community members.

C. Case Planning and Engagement



1. Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the delivery of services to children and their families.

2. Document daily activities and submit detailed reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.

3. Ensure that new admissions have the opportunity to participate in the comprehensive orientation involved in the program.

4. Ensure there is an integration of family services into the case planning needs of the young person.

5. Ensure goals have a meaningful connection to the young people's healthy development and their plan for permanency and are consistent with their therapy.

6. Monthly reports and Service Plans are completed in a timely manner with the participation of the family.

7. Attends and participates in relevant case conferences.

8. Ensures families have opportunities to participate in Ranch activities.

9. Plans, and coordinates regular family day activities.

10. Develops and facilitates parent groups that meet the needs of families receiving services

D. Care and Behaviour Management.



1. Be present within the therapeutic home and provide community-based support and prevention services to children and their families.

2. All behaviour management strategies will be consistent with policy and procedure, accreditation standards and best practice research.

3. All trauma management strategies will be consistent with policy and procedure, accreditation standards and best practice research.

4. Deliver programs that promote healthy lifestyles and relationships for families.

5. Promotes and encourages each family to maintain an optimum level of health, well-being and self-esteem.

6. Respects and protects the rights of clients, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity; and their right to live free from retaliation, discrimination, and abuse.

7. Maintains and models appropriate personal boundaries with clients, and refrains from involvement with client personal affairs or other business that may constitute a conflict of interest.

8. Supports clients with problem-solving, compatibility, and conflict resolution.

9. Promotes the integration and acceptance of clients in the community.

10. Works collaboratively with families, and where applicable and/or assists with planning and implementing community and in-house activities.

E. Program Development and Management



1. Ensure program design maximizes efficiency and effectiveness in achieving therapeutic foster caregiving objectives.

2. Ensure that services fully comply with contract expectations and accreditation standards.

3. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Children's Services through ongoing communication and being responsive and competent in daily practice and service planning.

4. Ensure Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Oak Hill's crisis management system, are fully implemented.

5. Ensure practices are consistent with the CARE framework.

F. Supervision



1. TFS will be responsible for the performance measures of their direct reports (therapeutic caregivers).

2. TFS will be responsible for teaching, coaching, and training the therapeutic caregivers to ensure the program goals are met.

3. TFS will be responsible for performing weekly reflective supervision using the appropriate TCI and CARE approaches.

4. TFS will ensure therapeutic caregivers adhere to or exceed program standards and provide a holistic continuous quality improvement environment.

5. TFS will provide quarterly performance evaluations and reflective feedback for therapeutic caregivers.

6. TFS will provide an annual written review of performance summarizing ongoing feedback, fulfillment of responsibilities, and goals for improvement.

G. Program Specific Responsibilities



1. Crisis on-call support - TFS provides coordination and backup to ensure that 24-hour on-call crisis services are available and delivered as needed to Therapeutic Caregivers, children and youth, and families.

2. Respond to ad hoc requests as directed by the Director or designate.

H. Qualifications



1. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Masters Degree preferred. Equivalent education will be considered.

2. Registered with the Alberta College of Social Work, or equivalent.

3. Three years of experience in a human service organization with family support services.

4. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Effective time management skills.

7. Experience & knowledge of First Nations culture and the impacts of intergenerational trauma are required.

8. Valid class 5 driver's license.

9. Standard 1st Aid (level C) and ASIST Suicide Certificate(s) are required; however, courses are offered after commencement.

10. Clean Police Security Clearance, Clean Intervention Record Check and 2-million-dollar vehicle insurance are conditions of employment and the candidate's financial responsibility.
