Job Details

Position Title: Theatre Technician

Status: Regular Part Time

Hours: 24wk

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Media & Creative Arts

Campus/Location: Lakeshore

Salary: (Min) $18.44 \xe2\x80\x93 (Max) $28.38 per hour

What you will do:

The Theatre Technician is responsible for ensuring that lighting, sound, and other technical aspects of theatre runs safely and smoothly, and that theatre equipment is kept in good working order. The Theatre Technician is also responsible for wardrobe and props inventory and oversees booking procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role

Education:

  • Minimum 2-year diploma in Theatre Arts/Technical Production
  • Working at heights training - Chief Prevention Officer accreditation, Elevating Work Platform Training, Fall Protection Certification, and WHMIS Certification.
Experience:
  • 2 years of experience working in the Theatre/Performing Arts production industry.
Key Skills:
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the technical aspects of the theatre\xe2\x80\x99s day-to-day operations
  • Maintaining equipment inventories
  • Overseeing and coordinating theatre properties and wardrobe inventory
  • Organising rigging and setting of lighting and sound equipment, acquiring and setting up props, masking, etc.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in health and safety legislation
  • Carrying out all duties in accordance with the organisation\xe2\x80\x99s Health & Safety Policy and promoting a culture of safety
  • Providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and professors
  • Perform technical support duties including equipment operation, maintenance, rentals, and transportation
  • Where required, demonstrate appropriate use of equipment, tools, machines, and processes
