As a Leadhand, You Will:

  • Operate the weight scales and scale software including cash transactions and answer phone calls
  • In absence of General manager, the ability to interact with governmental agencies including Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment
  • Liaise with operations employees, sub-contractors, and drivers in a safe, professional and team-oriented manner
  • Adhere to Health and Safety practices and regulations and enforce Ministry of Labour rules and regulations
  • Ensure the scale office, and surrounding grounds are clean and organized
  • Operate a front-end loader with scales to safely and accurately load highway trucks and trailers in a timely manner
  • Operation and maintenance of aggregate conveying and processing equipment
  • Complete various basic mechanical repairs on a variety of equipment
  • Other duties as required
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Valid Driver\'s license
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Experience operating front-end loader to load highway trucks and trailers
  • Technical knowledge of heavy equipment to diagnose and rectify equipment faults
  • Oversee operations in absence of General Manager
  • Basic computer knowledge on PC including Word and Excel programs
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as required
  • Able to work outdoors in varied temperatures and weather conditions
  • Good interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items
