The Tsartlip First Nation is pleased to invite applicants to apply to the permanent, full-time Employment and Education Coordinator position.
The Employment and Education Coordinator (Coordinator) works within the Social Programs division and assists Tsartlip community members age 15 and older in securing employment in their specialized field or area of interest by providing facilitated workshops, training referrals, and coaching.
The Coordinator operates under the direct supervision of the Social and Member Services Manager /Director of Community Services (Interim).

The annual salary for this position is starting at $59,925.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
oDetermines client's level of employment readiness and employment service needs by working with them to identify specific needs employment-related goals, strengths, needs, abilities, skills, and other relevant employment-related factors;
oCollaborates with all programs, when applicable, to support those seeking employment and training opportunities;
oMotivates, coaches, and mentors clients with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds;
oBuilds partnerships with employers, community agencies and other partners;
oDevelops job search plans with clients; supports and/or assists clients with job search activities and documents including application forms, developing resumes and cover letters, educational program registration documents, and interview preparation;
oProvides individualized employment advocacy for clients and employers when appropriate.
oAssists clients in organizing on-the-job training and guidance in order to successfully maintain their employment, work experience, or community attachment.
oIdentifies client job coaching/mentoring needs and coordinates with mentor services as required.
oMonitors participant progress by reviewing activities and results on an agreed upon schedule; prepares participant progress notes, action plans and follow-up reports;
oFacilitates pre-employment skill building workshops as required (i.e. First Aid, food safe etc.)
oPrepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by the Director, partners and funders;
oCreates and maintains secure files for each client; maintains and updates filing (paper and electronic), mailing systems;
oPresents a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with clients, families, community and co-workers;
oPromotes a safe work place; ensures that all established safety procedures are followed;
oCarries out other duties essential to the position as directed by the Director.
Education and Experience
oGrade 12 graduation (Dogwood or BC Adult Graduation Diploma); and
oDegree or Diploma in a related discipline such as Career Development, Human Service, Counselling is preferred; and
o2 years job development, career coaching or employment counselling experience; or
oAn equivalent combination of education and experience;
oExperience motivating, coaching and mentoring clients with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds;
oExperience developing and negotiating contracts;
oExperience preparing funding proposals, working with third party funders and associated programs and projects;
oExperience developing and preparing a variety of written reports, spreadsheets, presentations and other documentation;
oExperience maintaining records, filing and correspondence;
oClean criminal record check required.
