The Controls Engineering Supervisor is a hands-on position involving supervision of the electrical design and PLC programming teams in the development of equipment electrical control systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct, guide and mentor a team of electrical designers, virtual commissioners, and PLC programmers
Scheduling and oversight of the electrical design and controls teams to ensure projects remain on-time and on-budget
Review and assess scopes of work on new projects with regards to feasibility, hours and timing
Review and issue electrical and pneumatic designs to the build teams
Ensure project specifications, quality and timing meet both customer and company standards
Oversight of safety systems to ensure all codes and standards are followed and are PHSR compliant
Assist in commissioning of equipment and participate in internal and customer buyoffs
Collaborate with the mechanical design department including participate in design reviews
Weekly review and approval of departmental hours
Collaborate with Human Resources on staffing, goal setting, performance and employee reviews
Other duties as required
Skills & Experience:
Strong Siemens and Allen Bradley controls systems knowledge with 8+ years of relevant experience
Skilled in analyzing and troubleshooting electrical and controls issues
Solid understanding with hands on experience on Robots, VFD's and servo systems
Experienced in electrical and pneumatic system design
Proficient with Microsoft office products
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel to and within Canada, USA and Mexico with a valid Ontario driver's license and passport
Education:
Electrical Technology Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
