What you\'ll learn and achieve:

  • Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and other mechanical and structural set-ups. Builds and/or adaptation of test setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and /or instructions from engineering department personnel. Review tasks completed prior and post completion with the supervisor.
  • Record observation or calculated data on appropriate UL forms and prepares data sheets, and other documentations.
  • Review instructions from and report data to engineers and other laboratory personnel.
  • Perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
  • Conduct lab consumable inventory and upkeep when necessary.
  • Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Participate in client correspondence and project coordination.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
What makes you a great fit:
  • Graduation from a recognized two- or three-years technology program (mechanical, civil, building engineering or a related discipline).
  • 10+ years of relevent work experience preferred.
  • Must have a strong mechanical and structural aptitude/background.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Have an understanding of the concept and standards principals.
  • Comfortable in safely operating machinery such as forklift, scissor lift, telescopic boom and roto telehandler preferred.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects, work at heights and work in tight areas.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions furnished in written, oral or blueprint form.
  • Have professionalism and good manner with team members and or clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to resolve problems involving several variables in standardized situations where specific decision-making guidelines exist.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of common laboratory tests and equipment used within the building envelope industry.
