Description
The Diversified Analog Solutions team in Ottawa is developing wireless integrated circuit components and has a challenging opportunity for a University Student available for a 12-month work term. The successful candidate will report to a senior engineering mentor assigned. The ideal student will be required to apply sound engineering skills to a variety of tasks and project assignments in the area of electronics, design engineering, and semiconductor component test development. Must be available to work onsite from January to December 2026.
Term: 12-month Co-Op (Jan '26 - Dec '26)
Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the research and development of advanced RF integrated circuits and modules in the area of wireless technology.
  • The role primarily focuses on conducting lab tests on RF circuits and presenting/interpreting measurement data, but the successful candidate may also be involved in circuit simulation, presenting design expectations/results, and participating in design reviews.
  • Assist in new product engineering and design activities.
  • Assist full-time engineering group members with their project assignments.
  • Completion of small projects and task assignments of various degrees of complexity, ranging from RF/analog design and test environment programming, documentation, etc.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in an MS or PhD Electrical Engineering (or related) degree program.
  • Experience with RF lab equipment, including oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum/signal analyzer, VNA, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of RF / analog circuits and principles.
  • Solid understanding of S-parameters and electromagnetics
  • Desirable knowledge/experience includes:
  • Familiarity with ADS, Cadence, or similar simulation tools
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ADS Momentum/EMX/HFSS
  • Basic familiarity with RF circuit blocks, such as PAs, LNAs, switches, etc.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment
  • Must have strong time management skills
  • Good communication, organization, and documentation skill

The typical pay range for an intern is currently CAD $25.00 - $44.00 per hour. Starting base pay will depend on level of education and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
