Test Engineer - Train Validation - location St. Bruno, Canada
Key Responsibilities:
Review system and subsystem requirements, functional specifications, and train validation plans.
Develop detailed test procedures, checklists, and test sequences for validation at train level.
Perform integration testing, static validation, and dynamic (on-train) testing activities.
Ensure test readiness by coordinating test environment, instrumentation, and configuration with engineering and commissioning teams.
Conduct interface validation between TCMS, Propulsion, Braking, Doors, HVAC, and other train subsystems.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Control / Computer / Mechatronics Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in train validation, integration, or testing within the rail domain.
Strong understanding of Train Control & Monitoring Systems (TCMS) and communication networks (MVB, Ethernet, CAN, ECN, WTB).
Experience in test execution, measurement instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
Knowledge of rolling stock systems such as Propulsion, Braking, Doors, HVAC, Passenger Information Systems, etc.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and trace analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, CANalyzer, FipAnalyser).
Understanding of EN 50126 / EN 50128 / EN 50129 standards and validation processes.
Experience in test documentation, configuration management, and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, DOORS).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Good-to-Have / Preferred:
Experience in train commissioning or site testing activities.
Hands-on with test benches / simulators / SIL platforms.
Familiarity with SCADA / HMI validation and software-in-the-loop (SIL) or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.
Knowledge of safety integrity levels (SIL) and railway safety processes.
Exposure to CBTC / ETCS / ATO / ATS / OTS systems.
Experience working with international rail OEMs (e.g., Alstom, Siemens, Hitachi, CAF, Bombardier).

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
