Join TransitNEXT and become part of The Trillium Line Extension project, expanding and enhancing transit services in Ottawa. We are looking for someone to work as a part of the Trillium Project Testing & Commissioning team. Reporting to the T&C Manager, the candidate will support the activities as outlined below: How will you contribute to the team?

  • Provide support/lead with the following:
  • Prepare and configure systems in a lab (will involve some lifting and moving of equipment);
  • Preparation of system integration test plans and procedures;
  • Preparing and managing system integration commissioning record-keeping;
  • Update certain systems with test information;
  • Liaise with other TNext departments, City of Ottawa teams and external vendors;
  • Maintain the system integration Commissioning Schedule;
  • Execute and record test procedures;
  • May witness selected equipment for start-up, PICO, SAT, SIT;
  • Work safely within a hazardous environment (trackside, on vehicle);
  • Work as part of a team, and, at times, independently to fulfill the goals of the project;
  • Help resolve any major issues during the testing and commissioning phase;
  • Prepare and complete test documentation;
What will you contribute?
  • A demonstratable understanding of certain systems deployed in civil projects: CCTV, VoIP, SCADA.
  • Experience of using tools to configure networking devices: web based interfaces, terminal emulators, MS Windows and Linux configuration options
  • A demonstratable understanding of networking concepts: ethernet, optical fibre, routing, switching, IPv4.
  • Ability to use standard office computer software: Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • You have the ability to proactively identify and document any problems/conflicts and effectively manage and resolve them.
  • Understanding of risks and health and safety whilst working in a hazardous environment.
  • You have a willingness to learn, in the field, in a lab, and the attitude to actively seek new knowledge.
  • You have high organizational and tracking skills.
  • You have the ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and can cope with schedule demands and workload.
  • You are expected to work extended hours based on the workload requirements.
  • You have a valid driving license.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical codes applied in Canada and in Ontario as well as the codes that apply to the transit industry a strong asset.
