AutoReqId: 16075BR Line Of Business: Cement Operations Department: Distribution Primary Location: Winnipeg-MB Pay Class: Hourly Job Posting: The Company and the Role: Position: Terminal Operator – Spring/Summer Seasonal days. Reporting to the Terminal Manger, Region Canada this position is responsible for the day to day operations at the Winnipeg Cement terminal. Duties of this role are: failure identification, offloading cement railcars, preventative maintenance, shipping, and other duties or projects as required. This position is also responsible to follow all Safety policies including PPE requirements, inspections and FLHA’s (Field Level Hazard Assessments) and ensure the site is fully compliant with Lehigh Cement’s environmental program. Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Lehigh Hanson safety program and embrace Lehigh Hanson Zero Harm culture
  • Communicate to operations management, logistics coordination and sales team as requested
  • Supervise on site contractors ensuing proper safety and operational planning is completed before work commences.
  • Operate automated controls to convey product from railcars to storage silos and storage silos to bulk cement trucks.
  • Maintain inventory documentation using programs such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs including proper documentation of current cement terminal conditions and future repair planning.
  • Effectively communicate with Lehigh employees and contractors using verbal, text and email correspondence.
  • Assist in accurate cement order fulfillment and identifying solutions for order issues.
  • Provide feedback and participate in the continuous improvement initiatives for the terminal.
  • Ensure general housekeeping of the facility is clean at all times.
  • Operate various pieces of motorized equipment.
  • Other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous operational success in a cement terminal or other operations based environment preferred. Prospective candidate to provide examples of their achievements.
  • Experience working in a cement manufacturing/distribution environment or equivalent is an asset.
  • Troubleshooting abilities to support preventative and breakdown maintenance an asset.
  • Computer literacy with Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Completion of a High School Diploma.
  • Comfortable and capable of working at heights.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Training Programs As a condition of employment the applicant will be required to successfully complete the following training sessions and be deemed fully competent or show the ability to become fully competent while under Lehigh supervision:
  • Cement Terminal Operation
  • Rail operation and offloading
  • Lock Out of electrical equipment.
  • Vessel and Confined Space Entry
  • Fall Arrest
Work Environment:
  • Role operates in an office and manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
