Exceldor Cooperative, an Award-Winning, long-standing company seeks a Term Safety Coordinator to join our Health, Safety, and Security Department at our Blumenort Plant reporting directly to the Health, Safety, and Security Manager. Usual start time for this position is 9am to 5:30pm, with flexibility to start earlier or later to ensure support and training is provided to operations. This position provides a wide range of effective and responsive administrative services to our plant facilities. This is a term position ending in January 2027 with the possibility of an extension.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all safe work procedures are current and relevant, ensure proper training of individual employees when applicable, conduct risk assessments on various tasks throughout the facility, have a solid understanding of safety requirements, and exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with various personnel including management, supervisors, and individual employees. The Safety Coordinator will also be responsible for participating in various health and safety initiatives and must encourage a strong Health and Safety environment for all employees.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary diploma/degree in Occupational Health and Safety or enrollment in an Occupational Health and Safety Program; Proficient knowledge of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations; Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Current training or certification in Advance First Aid is considered an asset; Train the Trainer courses considered an asset; willing to become trained in specialized Health and Safety courses; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment; Strong organizational skills; Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines as required; Positive attitude, proactive and dynamic approach; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Conduct and maintain the Critical Job Inventory; Coordinate and perform Job Hazard Assessments and Safe Work Procedures as required; Coordinate and facilitate specialty training of employees for WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lift Truck, etc. Track and maintain training records for all individual employees. Support management to ensure training is current. Notify all relevant departments of incidents, near misses and property damage, record information, maintain investigation, and identify and analyze trends. Provide support during safety inspections and report observations. Participate in H&S meetings, JSHC and complete action items as assigned. Provide reports to management and governing bodies as requested and required. Other duties as required.
