POSITION SUMMARY

The employee in this position is directly responsible for operating equipment and performing various duties that involve the grounds maintenance of the parks, campgrounds, and open spaces within the town. This employee is a respected member of an effective working team, dedicated to maintaining and improving our community and will serve the public with courtesy and respect. As an employee, this person shall establish and maintain a good working relationship with all departments. Sound judgement and discretion must be used when responding to inquiries regarding classified and confidential information

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain positive relations with employees and the public. Grass maintenance, weed trimming, and flower beds. Trail maintenance, snow removal Maintain outdoor facilities for cleanliness. Operate hand, garden tools and implements. Assist in tree and hedge trimming. Maintain campground and picnic areas throughout the town. Planting and watering of trees. Willingness to learn and train on small and medium equipment operation. Small equipment maintenance as per operator manual and supervisor requirements. Assist facilities department when required. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES

Must have completed a minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalency (GED). Valid Class 5 Alberta Operators License. Experience with all types of lawn maintenance equipment. Experience operating riding lawnmowers. Medium equipment operation, such as tractors, and skid steers would be considered an asset. One-year direct experience in the operation of medium type mobile equipment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Capable of working with minimum supervision and self-motivated. Physically capable of performing work assigned. Must have knowledge of Safety Standards and adhere to standards.
