Term Instructor – Carpenter Foundation Program

Job Description

NVIT anticipates a requirement for a term instructor for the Carpenter Foundation Program and invites applications from qualified individuals. The program will be offered in Merritt Campus beginning September 3, 2025, and running through to March 2026


Job Summary:





This position has instructional responsibilities such as: teaching provincial curriculum; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our Trades team and with the Dean. The program curriculum will follow the SkilledTradesBC Foundation Level Carpentry objectives and student learning outcomes, including: general safety rules and safe work practices; identifying different types and uses of drawings and blueprints; use of hand tools and portable power tools; interpretation of engineered flooring systems and truss drawings; calculation and construction of wall forms and concrete details, including residential structure foundations; installation of sill plates, beams, pony walls, floor joists, bridging, and floor sheathing; and calculating quantities and costs of framing lumber. Other instructional responsibilities will include review and preparation with the students for the ITA Level 1 Technical Exam, and all administrative responsibilities including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation.
