The Opportunity

Rocky View Schools is seeking an outstanding professional for a term, full-time (40 hours per week) position of an Apprentice Carpenter. Rocky View Schools is specifically looking for a 2nd - 4th year apprentice. The position will start immediately and ending February 2, 2024. As a member of the Maintenance team, the Apprentice Carpenter will be responsible for assisting RVS\xe2\x80\x99 Carpenters in their day-to-day duties.

Responsibilities

Maintains knowledge of all materials relating to the carpenter trade and seeks out information on new materials that may be appropriate for use in school buildings

Safely operates hand tools and equipment

Utilizes knowledge of Alberta Building Codes and other codes relevant to the duties of an apprentice carpenter

Maintains awareness of workplace hazards and how to avoid or deal with them safely

Climbs ladders, operates man lifts and handles materials required by the trade

Understands and complies with all legal requirements for safety and health, as they pertain to the workplace

Demonstrates and models a genuine appreciation for, and understanding of, protocol, discretion, and professionalism in RVS

Education/Experience

Minimum Grade 12 (GED) Completion

Valid Alberta Motor Vehicle License Class 5

Provide own basic hand tools
