This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).


The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-track appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor, which is in accordance with the Academic Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive bene?ts package.


The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in any area of Statistics. The start date of the position is July 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed. We offer an excellent research environment.

The Faculty of Science is internationally recognized for excellence in research and education. The successful candidate will establish their own research program, supervise graduate students, and teach both graduate and undergraduate courses.


Applicants must have a PhD degree in Statistics (or equivalent) completed prior to the start date of this position. They must demonstrate strong promise and signi?cant achievements in research in any area of Statistical Sciences. A strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching is essential.

This position requires that the incumbent be eligible to participate in government-funded research projects including active ability to receive federal research funds on behalf of the university. Individuals having an active affiliation with a Named Research Organization are ineligible to participate in government-funded research projects in Sensitive Technology Research Areas in Canada. Applicants must be able to meet all applicable research security requirements.
