Temporary Upstream Support Facilitator

Job Description

The Upstream Support Facilitator provides assessment, case management, and support for youth and/or their families. This position provides outreach to youth identified through the Upstream Project and connects them to supports that help them remain in school, maintain stable housing, and improve the student's overall health and mental well-being.


Position:

Temporary Part Time (20 hours/week) until November 30, 2025


Compensation:

$33.12 - $38.62 per hour


Indirect Compensation




9.31% Pension matching dependent on enrollment status 3 weeks vacation which increases with length of service 1 paid wellness day per year Paid Birthday off Paid sick time which increases with length of service. Qualifications:




Education and experience


Degree in child and youth care, social work or psychology Three years of experience working with youth and families with complex needs

Job skills and abilities


Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written skills Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Practice Understands impact of colonization, residential schools and resulting intergenerational trauma in indigenous communities Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ issues Incorporates positive youth development and a strengths-based approach Strong knowledge of the bio-psycho-social factors that affect mental wellness including substance use Strong conflict resolution skills Proficient knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques Ability to work effectively with participants, program team and other community professionals Good time management skills Ability to work independently

Criminal Record Search in accordance with agency policy Valid Unrestricted BC Driver's license and use of reliable vehicle Community Care Emergency First Aid Certificate - preferred Non Violent Crisis Intervention - preferred Mental Health First Aid - preferred Naloxone Training- preferred Employees must declare their vaccination status for COVID-19 and influenza; if vaccinated, documentation must be provided.
