Please do not apply through Dayforce.Start Date: July 2024POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for the overall operation of the centre(s) and curriculum, ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. Serves as a role model within the organization by demonstrating support of Upper Canada Child Care\xe2\x80\x99s mission, vision, and guiding values. Represents the organization publicly in a professional and positive manner through effective and supportive communication with families and external agencies.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care\xe2\x80\x99s program statement.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, training sessions, meetings and committees both on and off-site.
  • Liaison with personnel from government bodies and community agencies and responds to their directives (e.g. public health, Children\xe2\x80\x99s Aid Society, police, Children\xe2\x80\x99s Services, MEDU).
  • Participates in performance management; including goal setting. Seeks out opportunities for professional development for employees in collaboration with the Training and Development Specialist.
  • Administers progressive disciplinary processes as required, including observation, documentation and meeting with employees; seeks support from Director and/or People & Talent department when needed.
  • Carries out established hiring procedures (e.g. initial screening, interviewing, evaluation, etc). Supports the onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Supports and participates in the disability management process.
  • Schedules dedicated time for classroom visits to ensure quality program delivery (reviews program charts, pedagogical documentation, environment), and to coach and lead employees.
  • Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
  • Fills the role of classroom teacher as needed; supports with general housekeeping and classroom duties (e.g. meal/snack preparation, toileting, diapering, dressing).
  • Prepares and participates in Ministry of Education inspection/licensing process.
  • Schedules and leads team and individual meetings (e.g. centre, room, accommodation, etc) as required. Documents meetings and provides meeting minutes.
  • Communicates with the regional director on a consistent basis; ensures the regional director is up-to-date on the overall operation of the centre.
  • Produces and/or reviews external communication for the centre including newsletters, calendars, postings, and other written documentation.
  • Conducts centre tours for families; works closely with the Director Communication and Marketing to promote UCCC and optimize enrolment at centre level.
  • Responsible for child registration including the collection, recording and maintenance of emergency and personal information. Supports Accounts Payable department with fee collection as needed.
  • Ensures accurate payroll data entry.
  • Maintains and/or collects child attendance records for subsidy purposes and submits reports to Children\xe2\x80\x99s Services as required.
  • Monitors petty cash, inventory and spending according to centre budget.
  • Participates in health and safety initiatives as required in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Communicates with suppliers and maintenance team as needed.
  • Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE); or approved equivalency, from a recognized college or university.
  • Minimum two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in a licensed child care setting.
  • Good working knowledge of all legislation and guiding documents related to licensed child care in Ontario.
  • A recent Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Health assessment and record of immunization, as outlined by legislation.
  • Up-to-date registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable).
  • Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills; able to manage time effectively to meet the demands of the centre.
  • Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
  • Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a professional disposition.
  • Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365, Intranet, Dayforce, Parent App, and Storypark.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and vehicle.
