The Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre is currently seeking a temporary 0.8 FTE (30 hrs/week) Director of Speech-Language Pathology. We are a community-based agency providing early intervention services within a family- centered service delivery model, serving children and families in the communities of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Katzie.
We provide assessments, individual and group therapy, and consultation to families of children from birth to school entry in our region, working collaboratively with other RMCDC-based therapists as well as various community agencies within the context of a flexible, multi-disciplinary setting. Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the SLP Director is responsible for:
Managing and supervising the SLP Department and staff of 5 SLPs
Planning and leading monthly Department meetings
Attending and participating in bi-monthly meetings with senior management
Reviewing referrals in monthly meetings with Fraser Health, and managing the RMCDC SLP waitlist
Maintaining a clinical early intervention caseload; providing assessment, consultation, individual and group intervention to children with a variety of communication disorders including language delays, phonological/articulation difficulties, motor speech disorders impacted by neurological impairments, fluency/voice/resonance differences, and social communication challenges
Providing assessment and intervention to children with feeding and swallowing disorders
Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of therapists including Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists), as well as additional related services providers such as Infant Development Program/Supported Child Development Program Consultants
Implementing parent coaching models of intervention
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Active (full) registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia
Experience supervising, assigning, directing, and evaluating the work of others (minimum 2 years of experience)
Experience working with young children with a variety of disabilities including complex conditions such a genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions, Autism, ADHD, etc (minimum 5 years of pediatric experience)
Experience forming and maintaining effective working relationships with families, colleagues and community partners
Experience working within a family-centered model and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Experience in the assessment and intervention of pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders
Strong administrative skills, including the ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate work tasks
Experience with using Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) to support communication an asset
Knowledge of Trauma Informed practice and cultural safety
Valid driver's license and vehicle
Hanen certification an asset
