What we are looking for:




We are seeking a detail-oriented

Temporary Senior Accountant

who will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data through reconciliations, schedules, and daily cash and bank reporting. This role supports the annual audit process and contributes to the development and implementation of internal controls, policies, and procedures. The Senior Accountant will also assist with month-end and year-end close activities and provide analytical support to management.



This role is onsite in Hamilton but may involve travel to Guelph and Burlington. The position is for six months with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:



Reconciliations and Reporting



Perform detailed reconciliations and schedules. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Prepare daily cash and bank reports.

Controls, Policies and Procedures



Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls. Assist in drafting and implementing accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance and support succession planning.

Month-End and Year-End Close



Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and accruals. Prepare variance analyses and provide explanations to management.

Other



Assist with annual external audit by providing required documentation and explanations. Provide backup coverage for Accounting team. Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as required. Maintain and file all accounting documents in an organized and timely manner. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance and CPA designation. Minimum 10 years of accounting experience (experience in the automotive industry is an asset), including: + schedules, journal entries, and financial reporting, and advanced reconciliations; + strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles;
+ advanced proficiency in accounting software and Excel; and
+ familiarity with tax matters (income tax, HST, luxury tax).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to identify and clear issues and discrepancies and explain variances. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
