The Site Assistant plays a key role in the daily operations of ABC Head Start Society, serving as the welcoming face of the organization and a central support for staff, children, and families. As part of an interdisciplinary team, this position ensures the smooth functioning of program sites by coordinating administrative tasks, transportation logistics, nutrition planning, health and safety protocols, and technology support. Through compassionate, trauma-informed practice and strong organizational skills, the Site Assistant helps create a safe, inclusive, and well-managed environment where children and families can thrive.

What You Will Do
As a Site Assistant, you'll be the welcoming face of ABC Head Start Society, supporting the smooth daily operations of our program site. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, organized, and inclusive environment for children, families, and staff. Your responsibilities will span across:
Classroom & Site Support: Provide daily support across the site, assisting with administrative tasks, attendance tracking, and family communication.
Administrative Coordination: Manage supplies, assist with meeting prep, and support documentation for child files and team collaboration.
Technology Support: Troubleshoot basic tech issues and coordinate with IT and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
Transportation Oversight: Communicate with bus drivers and families, coordinate safe loading/unloading, and manage transportation logistics.
Nutrition Coordination: Plan weekly snack menus, purchase and distribute groceries, and support classroom snack delivery.
Health & Safety Leadership: Participate in safety committees, maintain documentation, and respond to incidents with calm and care.
Trauma-Informed Practice: Build trusting relationships, apply proactive strategies, and support emotional regulation for children and families.
Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing learning, maintain training records, and collaborate with colleagues to support site-wide success.
About You
You are a warm, organized, and dependable team player who thrives in a fast-paced, child-centered environment. You communicate clearly and build trust with families, staff, and service providers, while remaining calm and effective in urgent or sensitive situations. Detail-oriented and tech-savvy, you excel at keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Your compassionate and culturally aware approach reflects a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices, and you're always eager to learn, grow, and contribute positively to a collaborative, mission-driven team.
Must-Haves
High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in administration, early childhood, or a related field is an asset).
Experience in administrative support, early learning programs, or family services.
Valid drivers' license and reliable transportation to travel between locations.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Comfort with technology and office equipment (Microsoft Office Suite, photocopiers, etc.).
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices (or willingness to learn).
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Child Intervention Check.
Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and empathy.
Willingness to participate in health and safety committees and related reporting.
Working with Us
This position is
temporary part-time working 24 hours/week
with an immediate start date and ending on June 30, 2026. Position will support
Millbourne Market Mall & Newton Community Hall Program Locations.
Compensation starts at
$20.30/hour,
with increases based on experience and qualifications.
