This is a temporary 50% position that will commence as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2026, or a return of incumbent, whichever is earlier.



Role Overview:

Social Workers provide social and emotional support to children and families to ensure a healthy and positive school experience. Through in-class support, short term counselling, and referrals to outside community agencies Social Workers develop behavioural strategies and interventions that maximize opportunities and success in school.



What you will do:
+ Work primarily within a classroom environment to support the Response to Intervention framework focused on developing, implementing and monitoring interventions and strategies that meet the social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs of students.
+ Provide social and emotional support to children and adolescents through brief, solution-focused counselling, skill development and assessment.
+ Communicate effectively with students and families, to connect them with community service providers as part of an intervention plan.
+ Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff and outside agencies to promote understanding of each child's social and emotional needs and connect families with community service providers as part of an intervention/treatment plan in order to strengthen family-school partnerships.
+ Proactively conduct risk assessments of student safety, emotional and behavioural needs, implement crisis prevention practices and deliver crisis intervention and response services to promote safe and healthy learning environments.
+ Maintain up-to-date assessments and intervention records.
+ Build the capacity of teachers and administrators using a variety of proactive, innovative and effective professional development delivery techniques, including in-class modeling, collegial mentoring and coaching, professional reference materials and presenting at professional learning events.
+ Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Student Services Coordinator.



What will make you successful:
+ Bachelor or Master's Degree in Social Work.
+ Registered and in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
+ Experience working in the education sector is an asset.
+ Current knowledge of best practices, assessment, intervention, and consultation methods to support in childhood and adolescent social/emotional development.
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
+ Time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and problem solve. o Knowledge and adherence to professional standards and ethics specific to the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
+ Superior case management tracking, documentation, writing and reporting skills.
+ Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.



What you can expect:
+ Hourly rate range: $42.38 - $51.57.
+ 100% employer paid health benefits plan.
+ Employer matched pension plan.
+ Hours of work are 20 hours per week on school days, with an exact scheduling to be determined. Social Workers are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.
