NAIT's Automotive Service Technician Program prepares students to diagnose problems, repair engines, use computer management systems, and adjust vehicles to operate for peak performance. The program will support students to work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles performing repairs, conducting preventative maintenance, and diagnosing faulty systems.


The Automotive Service Technician program is currently recruiting for temporary instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.


The successful candidate(s) will:


Have strong technical knowledge in Automotive Service Be able to work both independently and within a team environment Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team.

Key

Responsibilities:




Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success. Respond to student issues Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021+, NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:




High School Diploma Completion of Automotive Service Technician Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal Minimum 8 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket Teaching experience an asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).




Remuneration:

Will commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay. Instructor salary grid $34.48 - $59.98 per hour, however, starting hourly wage for a new hire average between $41.76 - 45.41 per hour based on education and experience. (Classification - Instructor).


All temporary instructor assignments are covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
