The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences seeks a Psychologist to provide psychological services in the Forensic Program. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based clinical assessment and evaluation services to forensic patients. Position responsibilities also include providing consultations to clarify diagnosis and contribute to the clinical management of patients, individual and group therapy, participation in education/teaching, research, quality improvement and program evaluation initiatives
The position being recruited for is within the Forensics Program, which consists of a total of 138 in-patient beds and serves approximately 120 patients in the Forensic Outpatient Service. The Secure Forensic Service, which consists of 3 units with a total of 62 beds, provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for patients who are ordered by the courts or the Ontario Review Board (ORB) and who require accommodation at a higher security level.
The General Forensic Service, which consists of 3 units with a total of 76 beds, provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for patients who are ordered by courts or Ontario Review Board (ORB) and who require accommodation at a lower security level. The Forensic Outpatient Service provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for patients who are ordered by the courts or the Ontario Review Board (ORB) who reside in the community
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Doctoral level degree in Psychology, preferably with 3 years clinical and research experience in the field of severe and persistent mental illness as well as working with clients in the forensic system (e.g., experience with the Review Board system and expertise in conducting violence risk assessments using a structured professional judgment approach).
The successful candidate will hold a current and unrestricted license to practice in Ontario with the College of Psychology, authorized to practice in both clinical and forensics. (Candidates who are eligible for registration may be interviewed).
The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills to work with an interdisciplinary team to provide evidence-based clinical management, assessment and therapy of patients with a serious mental illness who have come in contact with the law.
A demonstrated interest and aptitude for academic activities (e.g., teaching psychology interns) and the ability to conduct independent research relevant to the mandate of the Forensic Program are key.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment are essential.

Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers
Meditech experience preferred
