Ensure that client care at Ellen Osler Home is offered in accordance with the mission and values of The Salvation Army, and with applicable contract(s) and/or agreements.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of holistic care and be prepared to address holistic needs of clients during all interactions when providing direct service to women in a residential setting.
Provide support and case management to clients utilizing inreach, residential, aftercare and Reporting Centre services - this may include one-on-one support as well as referrals to other community agencies as appropriate.
During shift, provide support to staff, students and volunteers and assist with crisis intervention, diffusing conflict and problem solving as required.
Responsible to complete all required documentation including but not limited to intake, discharge, inventories, incident reports, shift logs and case notes, reintegration plans, progress reports, etc.).
Completes/contributes to community assessments, additional support proposals, and other client care related processes as required.
Develop appropriate and therapeutic relationships with residents, their families, caregivers and assigned community and/or corrections supports as necessary.
Reviews program staff communication logs and participates in case conferences, staff meetings, and trainings.
Demonstrates an understanding of the psychological and social dynamics of working with federally sentenced women.
Responsible for static and dynamic security of the facility during shifts.
Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Provide client information to management when required and arrange for management discussions for clients showing escalated risk behaviors or general deterioration as needed.
Attends Grand Valley Institution for inreach and support of clients during parole hearings as assigned.
Performs and coordinates necessary household duties as required.
Performs other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:This is a temporary, full-time position based upon 40 hours per week. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.Normal hours of work are Monday-Friday rotating days and afternoon, 7:15- 3:15 and 3:00pm-11:00pm and includes a \xc2\xbd hour paid meal break where applicable.End: April 2025QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 2-year College diploma in Social Services or Correctional field or equivalent experience.
Possess current First Aid, CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Two (2) years previous experience with people experiencing conflict with the law would be an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health/Addictions/Services for Women.
Thorough knowledge, understanding commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, and strengths-based practices.
Good knowledge of community resources.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
Strong problem-solving skills essential.
A high degree of confidentiality required.
Excellent computer skills in MS office including Word, Excel, Access and Publishing.
Must have good interpersonal and time management skills.
Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgment.

Must have demonstrated ability to work both independently and under supervision.
Self-motivated and disciplined.
Be able to lift/move more than 20 pounds as required.
Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
